I've been working with couples for over 16 years.  I've been married for over 50 years - unfortunately not to just one woman.  My initial marriage lasted nearly 30 years and my current marriage is in it's 25th year.  In my own case, and in the case of most of the couples I work with, we've never been taught how to "do relationship".   It's not that we wouldn't do what we need to do to have a great marriage - we don't know what to do.  And, it's very painful and difficult to learn what to do in the midst of trouble.

I've committed myself to teaching and inspiring others before they encounter major issues - relational preventive maintenance, if you will.  Over the past 16+ years I've developed a way of working with couples that I call the Mutual Understanding Method®.  The over-arching concept for this approach is based on the following statement:  Communication is not the key to your marriage - mutual understanding is.  This straight forward, common sense approach weaves scripture and psychological research together.

I use a modified version of this approach in coaching pre-marital couples.
